About Keli RobertsGrowing up in Australia, from a very early age I was active and involved in competitive sports. I especially loved swimming, track and field, Net Ball (like basketball, but with no back board and no dribbling) and synchronized swimming. After l left school, I worked as a model and actress in Australia and Europe but found the lifestyle very unhealthy and the work totally unsatisfying. Moreover, it also made me feel like I was never good enough! My modeling career left me with very low self-esteem.

After quitting modeling, I got certified to teach fitness through ACHPER, Australia’s top fitness certification and I soon began teaching classes. Initially, I was teaching as a means to attend theater school, but I soon found out that I was happiest teaching fitness classes. So, I dropped out of theater school and thrust myself full-time into the fitness industry. I had found my true passion – teaching fitness!

After several years of teaching in Australia and New Zealand, I decided to move to America to continue my exercise education and take the ACE certification for Group Exercise and Personal Training as well as the AFAA certification. After passing all of my exams I began teaching at Voight Fitness which was “The Place” to teach at that time and it was through my classes there that I built my personal training clientele.

Within a few months I found myself teaching some of Hollywood’s elite. My group fitness classes had such celebrities as Nicole Kidman, Janice Dickinson, Beverly Johnson, Lauren Hutton and Jennifer Grey. My personal training clientele included Cher, Kirstie Alley, Jennifer Gray, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Susan Dey and Faye Dunaway.

As my reputation grew, I was asked to shoot a Step, Legs and Abs video with Cher. It was a very unusual celebrity video because I was teaching and Cher was my student.  We worked very hard, but we had a lot of fun shooting it. It was such a success and so well received that CBS/Fox (who produced the video) contacted me to shoot my own video series and that’s how my video career began.

Keli Roberts Fitness HollywoodWhile I was touring to promote my step and circuit videos (Ultimate Step Workout and Total Body Circuit Training Workout),  I was approached by The Summit Group who asked me to write a book about my training techniques and it was called Fitness Hollywood .Upon publication, once more I toured many cities promoting it and was also featured on many TV and radio shows. The book received great reviews that were published in Shape, Women’s Fitness and many other prominent magazines.

Becoming well known in the consumer market gave me a head start with my goal to be a Continuing Education Specialist for ACE and AFAA. One of the main reasons I came to America was to become a fitness educator as I had always wanted to work with other instructors to help them become better teachers. I have since developed many programs to provide continuing education credits on Step training, Kick Boxing, Circuit Training, Sports Conditioning, Indoor Cycling, Dumbbell Training, Body Bar training, Core Training, Rubber Resistance training and Medicine Ball training to name a few.

Through my workshops, videos and manuals, it has been my goal to ensure that instructors learn to teach safe, effective and fun classes. I have taught workshops and master classes at conventions worldwide, including Brazil, UK, Japan, France, Germany, Mainland China and Hong Kong, Thailand, Portugal, Switzerland, Australia, Spain, Italy and Mexico.

In 1998, I started cycling competitively on road bikes, track bikes, mountain bikes and in Cyclocross (an off-road obstacle course done on a specially designed bike). My own passion for fitness has been centered on training and competing and I absolutely love it. Competing in a sport I love so much has strengthened my focus and challenged not only my body, but also the limitations of my mind. As Bob Marley says; “You don’t know how strong you are, till strong is the only choice you have!” Cycling pushes me beyond what I think I can do; I’ve learned to dig deep to my inner strengths to discover a whole new level of inner power. This in turn is something I help my class participants and clients find within themselves.

Fitness is truly my passion; I love the self-confidence it has built in my own life. Before I began my dedication to fitness, I was depressed, overweight and suffered from very low self-esteem, I hated myself. Today, I’m a very different person.  Exercise enriched and transformed my life! I’ve seen that when my people train with me, it can be life-changing; I have seen incredible transformations. I know I can help you achieve your dreams too!

Today my life is filled with peace, joy, happiness and sometimes challenges, but no matter what, exercise continues to nourish my body, mind and soul. I feel truly blessed to have made my love of fitness, wellness and exercise into a very rewarding career and to have made a difference in so many people’s lives!
