New Year, Fresh Start

New Year, Fresh Start

What I like most about the 1st of the year is the sense that I have a clean slate, as if I have a chance to start again. I love it. For me it brings things into a sharper focus and it helps me see what I like in my life and what needs to change.

For 2018, I made the commitment to get more sleep, be better with hydration and stretch more. I’ve been successful with the sleep and for the most part, hydration; the stretching has been a little less consistent. I feel so much better that I’m carrying those same objectives going into this year. These three tweaks have made the most incredible effect on my well-being and vitality; I’ve had so much more energy and mental clarity as a result.

For years I’ve set the resolution to give up sugar and I have never succeeded. In June of 2018, I did the Healthy Living Challenge and gave up sugar, caffeine, dairy, gluten, high sugar fruits, potatoes, soy and alcohol (the alcohol part was easy since I haven’t had a drink in years). Giving up sugar and caffeine was tough. I did it for 30 days, lost about 5lbs and got rid of my chronic heartburn. Since then, I’ve mostly stayed away from sugar and kept the weight off. Mission accomplished.

I have started to sell the products I used during the Healthy Living Challenge. At first I was hesitant, but then I saw the amazing results my clients were obtaining. One of my male clients lost 14 lbs and 10 inches in 30 days! I’ve since embraced the system. Arbonne products are simply the best, and the shake has become a staple for my breakfast, I love starting my day with a smoothie that is high protein, low sugar, and high fiber combination fuels me until later in the day.

So this year I’m sticking with it all! Starting in February, I’m going to do another system re-start with the Healthy Living Challenge. I’m not going to lie; the coffee will be brutally hard to give up. I LOVE coffee beyond reason! But I know that a metabolic re-set and getting rid of inflammation-causing substances in my diet will do me the world of good. So I’m putting it out there. If you’d like to join me in February for the Challenge, send me an email and we can do it together! Meanwhile, here’s my smoothie recipe:

  • 1 ½ c Unsweetened Vanilla Rice Milk
  • 2 scoops of Arbonne Vanilla Protein powder
  • 1 scoop of the Super Greens
  • 1 c frozen blueberries
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tsp Kosher Collagen (Great Lakes Gelatin) It’s an amazing source of protein and collagen is fantastic for hair, skin, nails and joint health.
  • Hand full of spinach
  • 4 ice cubes
  • Blend in a blender till completely smooth
  • (if it’s too thick, add some water or more rice milk)
